Review Load Assurance Hardware Components.

 

The probe needs to be calibrated at the beginning of a shift.

First, log in for the day

Then spin the drum under 3 RPMs for 10 turns

After the 10 turns, the probe is calibrated and ready

 

 

After loading, increase the drum speed to at least 10 RPMs until the Fully Mixed status displays.

 

Once the load is fully mixed, wait two (2) minutes or less with drum speed of less than 3 RPMs until a slump reading appears.

 

If adding water or chemicals to the mix, after reaching Fully Mixed, combine new additions at mixing speed for 30 revolutions. Then obtain another slump reading.

 

Complete your company's internal process if the slump falls out of the acceptable range.

 

This status means the concrete is uniformly mixed.
In the Fully Mixed status, slump measurements are enabled by reducing drum speed to less than 3 RPMs, ideally 2.5 RPMs.
FFF appears here when concrete is fully mixed. A countdown will also appear in the Voltage window.
our in the Voltage window means the slump is overmixed. This displays when the countdown timer for the slump reaches zero (0).

 

The FFF and our readings will disappear when the Speed is less than 3 RPMs.

Slump Messages

After reaching FFF (Fully Mixed status), once the driver slows down the drum to 3 RPMs or less:

  • The Slump field will show CAL during the 4 revolutions while calculating the slump. This will display during the Loaded, Fully Mixed, and To Job statuses. (Nothing is displayed on the Tablet in the Slump field during calculations.)

  • If the drum RPMs are fluctuating too much, the Slump displays as SPE (Speed), and the Tablet displays Var RPMs (Varying RPMs) for Slump.

  • If the drum completes 4 revolutions without determining a slump, the Slump field will display noS (No Slump), and the Tablet displays No Slump in the Slump field.

 

The Speed displays drum revolutions per minute (RPMs).
A negative speed shows drum RPMs while unloading.
For optimal slump readings, the drum RPM should be 2.5 for a minimum of two (2) minutes or four (4) revolutions.

 

Read the Slump measurement here.
Measure the slump when the drum speed is between 0.5 and 3 RPMs.
If the slump value is blinking, check to see if the slump is out of tolerance.

Slump - Above Calibration

If the slump is above the calibration table, 11", or greater, HHH will appear.

 

Complete your company's internal process if the slump falls out of the acceptable range.

Slump - Below Calibration

Read the Slump measurement here.

 

If the slump is below the calibration table, 1.5" or less LLL will appear.

 

Complete your company's internal process if the slump falls out of the acceptable range.

 

Water Allowed is the maximum water quantity that can be added to the load, based on the load ratio. This value decreases as Water Added increases.
Water Added shows total water quantity added measured by the flow meter.
Extra Water represents water added once the Water Allowed value is exceeded.
Water Allowed reduces as the volume of concrete decreases during a pour.
When Water Allowed reaches zero (0) and excess water is added, the value will blink to indicate Extra Water has been added.

After adding water and remixing the load, a 30-turn countdown starts in the Voltage window on the Load Properties card as soon as the drum speed is over 10 RPMs.

Complete 30 turns prior to registering a slump value or pouring.

 

The Temperature is the concrete temperature at the time of the probe reading.
A blinking temperature indicates the concrete temperature is above or below batch specifications.

 

This window indicates concrete volume loaded per ticket.
If the Volume is blinking when the truck is parked, the Load Assurance system did not receive a volume from COMMANDbatch and is currently measuring.
If the Volume window is empty, the drum is empty or the volume is less than one (1) cubic yard.

 

If you are experiencing issues with status, please report it to the Batch Person/Dispatch.

 

After leaving the Slump Stand and heading to leave the plant, maintain your RPMs between 2-3 RPMs so the system can get a Departure Slump. Allow the tablet to move you to the To Job status.
Once you leave the plant, try whenever possible to maintain your RPMs below 3 to allow the system to monitor mix changes such as slump loss.
Before arriving on site, ensure the drum speed it less than 3 RPMs and the tablet is showing a Slump Reading. Allow the tablet to move you into the On Job status. While waiting to pour, leave the drum at 3 RPMs and don't change the status to Begin Pour.
Once arriving at the jobsite and beginning the pour, the probe will automatically put you into the Begin Pour status when RPMs are below 0 and the volume decreases by at least 0.4 yards.
Once the Volume reaches 0, a complete turn and a Drum Speed of -6 (or greater) will indicate to the probe that the truck is empty and you're finished pouring.

The To Plant status will occur when you leave the Geofence and start returning to the plant. Please allow the system to change all the statuses through the delivery cycle.

 

 

Do not position the solar panel on the side or bottom of the barrel when the truck is not in use.

  • The solar panel will not receive direct sunlight and charge the probe efficiently.

  • The probe will suffer cement buildup, which prevents accurate measurements and requires tedious cleanup.
Do position the solar panel with the probe at the top of the drum when the truck is not in use.

  • The solar panel can charge with direct sunlight to produce voltage for the probe.

  • Leftover cement in the drum will fall away from the probe and prevent excessive buildup and tedious cleanup.

The solar panel on the outside of the barrel is attached to the probe and supplies it with voltage.

 

When the probe system was installed, a green, charging cable was provided along with a lockout tag.

 

The lockout tag should be used before charging is attempted.

 

Take the green, charging cable and run it from the frame of the truck towards the display unit and where there is a charging connector.

 

The solar panel also has a connection point that allows manual charging. The vehicle is best charged overnight.
Do not use any other cable than the short green one provided. There is a risk of breaking the transmission seal with a longer cable if drum is rotated.

 

Do not position the solar panel on the side or bottom of the barrel when the truck is not in use.

 

The probe will suffer concrete buildup, which prevents accurate measurements and requires tedious cleanup.

 

If the probe does not have concrete build, and the CCC is shown, this could be an indication of an internal failure, and a replacement would be needed.
