Requirements & specifications
The following items are required to install the probeA probe device mounted in the side of a bin to measure the moisture content of aggregate materials such as sand. system:
- A welding machine
- A zip cut blade on a grinder
- Hand tools such as: felt-tip marker, sockets, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, cutters, Allen wrenches, etc.
- Electrical terminal to connect cables to the truckAll machines used as a means of production on a construction site or at a batch plant. batteries, tie wraps, etc.
Charging probe’s battery
We recommend that you charge the probe’s battery before use. The battery can be charged using the solar panel, or the charging cable supplied with the probe kit.
Probe specifications
The following information outlines some limitations regarding the probe's measuring capabilities. Additionally, the requirements for how to obtain certain measurements are indicated here.
Measurement limits
- Temperature range: 30-120 degrees F, +/- 0.5 degrees F
- Slump: 2 to 10 inches
- Slump flow (for slump over 10 in or SCC): > 16 inches
- Spread (German DIN flow table): 12 to 24 inches
- Volume measurement: >2 cubic yards with a maximum slumpSlump is defined as the number of inches (or millimeters) concrete will sag, or slump, when a special test cone filled with the concrete is turned upside down and the cone pulled off the concrete. In other markets this is called ‘consistency’. Consistency for concrete can be stated different ways. Examples are: slump, flow, workability. We mostly use ‘slump’. of 10 inches
Obtaining measurements
- Slump: Rotate between 0.5 to 3 RPM to obtain a reading
- Mixing end: The speed will stop blinking when the concrete is homogeneous
- Volume: The mix has to be homogeneous and the drum has to rotate within the low speed range (0.5 to 3 RPM)
- Voltage: The solar panel has to be placed on top of the drum when parked to make sure the battery remains charged
